- How do we effectively form new research constellations (among existing researchers) in response to research calls that encourages/demands multidisciplinary research teams?
- How to ensure that we have both applied/short-term and basic/long-term research? How to avoid fights about which is "best"?
- How can we measure and reward the type of research/funding work and progress we want to see? (Num seniors per published paper, Num grant applications per senior etc)
- How to dimension education to avoid suboptimizations, small courses, etc. in a long run?
- How to provide diversity of our education at the same time?
- How to introduce more of teacher-teams to our education programs?
- How to involve students more in the research at the department and industrial collaborations?
- How to create a joint "front" of research towards industry at the department level?
- How will we handle teaching at the Lindholmen campus? It is not going away, but some of the teachers are. Will we move some other activities there? How can we ensure that the HI education is developed and kept up-to-date?
- How can we effectively lobby agencies like Vinnova, get through to their "handlaggare" so we are not treated as badly in the future?
- How can we make a more effective administrative set up for proposal writing so that researchers can focus on writing the scientific part and the budget is automatically handled by someone else, as is the case in INRIA or univs inthe US?
- Would it be beneficial to us to do a self-evaluation of our research performance like what Uppsala IT department did so successfully?
- How well do each of us now about each others visions? Personally, I can humbly say I am not up to date. I would personally like that we arrange a bi-weekly or monthly talk series in which each of us in say 20 minutes give a brief presentation on what's driving our research agendas and our visions followed by lunch together for exchange of ideas.
- There are pros and cons with the current organization in quite small (disciplinary) divisions. Time is ripe to evaluate whether this organization serves our mission well.
